Brian O’Carroll is a native of Ireland and a long time resident of New York City. With countless commercials, music videos, shorts and indie features to his credit, Brian continues to feel privileged to be a part of the world of cinematic storytelling. His remarkably personal style and approach to the craft of filmmaking is both reverent and inventive.
Brian’s feature work includes “Blue Caprice,” which he produced and photographed and which sold to IFC after premiering at Sundance in 2013, “Conventioneers,” which premiered at Tribecca and won an Independent Spirit Award in 2005, and 2nd unit photography on The Yellow Birds, which won best cinematography at Sundance in 2017. He also photographed the short film Angel, which won best short at the Milan International Film Festival in 2011 and earned him his third Emerging Cinematographer Award from the International Cinematographers Guild.
On the television side, Brian photographed The Men Who Built America for the History Channel, as well as Curiosity for Discovery. He has also photographed numerous commercials and promos, including a recent Guinness (Made of More) spot.
He is president and owner of Hi Def New York, a successful full-service production company for commercials, features and music videos.
