Ian Richardson

Ian is an emmy award winning documentary television editor.

In a career spanning over twenty years Ian has cut for several leading independent production companies including: Pilgrim Media Group, World of Wonder, Freemantle Media, Entertainment One, Creature Films, BBC New York, BBC Worlwide, Left-Right Television, Hallock-Healey Entertainment, Gay Rosenthal Productions, Digavision, Red Marble Media, Picture This Television, Moonshot Productions, Leopard Films, Roadside Entertainment, Teale-Edwards Productions, Sharp Entertainment, High Noon Entertainment, KPI and True Entertainment.

Ian began his editing career as an assistant editor on independent narrative films in New York City such as “Wet Hot American Summer”, “Shadow Magic” and the sequel to “The Blair Witch Project”, working with editors Meg Reticker, John Gilroy and Sarah Flack. Ian later assisted editor Melissa Niedich on the award winning documentary “The Two Towns of Jasper” where he fell in love with the process of editing non-fiction and he hasn’t looked back.

From there, Ian went on to edit unscripted programming for over twenty eight television networks. Most notably “Life Below Zero” for the National Geographic Channel for which he won the Emmy award for Outstanding Picture Editing for an Unstructured Reality Program in 2017.

In addition to his long form work he has cut numerous short form projects for The Fight Network in Canada, MonaMi Entertainment, Juma Entertainment, The BBC and live events such as numerous General Motors car conventions and Glamour Magazine’s woman of the year awards.

Although based in Los Angeles he often works in New York City and is comfortable editing on Avid Media Composer or Adobe Premiere.
